Noticing Details in Nature can improve your mood

If we want to keep ourselves emotionally and mentally well, we need to be able to shift from being busy, stressed or trapped in cycles of rumination and move towards calmer, more receptive frames of mind.

One of my favourite ways of doing this is taking a few minutes to Notice Details in nature – close gazing at a single leaf or feather.

As an artist I am trained to look carefully, to notice details, patterns, movement or mood in a way that many people don’t. A moment of curiosity about a strange marking on a leaf could lead to hours of research about parasitic wasps or zombie ants, or a few minutes listening to a blackbird scuffling in the leaves could open the door to a new kind of meditation.

I love creating new things, reflecting, refining, learning from nature every day and delighting in new discoveries – and most of all I love sharing it with others  through my shop and Nature Fix online membership space.
