Bird song

September 19, 2017

I'm reading A Sweet Wild Note: What We Hear When the Birds Sing by Richard Smyth, which talks about why birds sing, and what it might mean from different perspectives of naturalists, philosophers, musicians and poets through history. It's so interesting to think about how much birdsong is woven into our lives and our sense of who and where we are - and what we hear when we listen to it. As we turn to autumn the woods will be bursting back into life with a frenzy of feasting on nuts and berries - and now my mouth is healing I can't wait to get back out there and just listen.
