Palmate newt

We've managed to positively identify palmate newts in our garden pond this year. Webbed back feet and tail filament confirmed it. I love them although I think they're also the reason I keep finding lily flower buds floating in the pond. I've watched them biting the stalks and thrashing about till they snap. Maybe they're eating them, I'm not too sure. I would love to have some lily flowers on the pond, but I guess I love newts more.
